About Mount Bethel PA
Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania, is an unincorporated community in Upper Mount Bethel Township with colonial roots dating back to the early 1700s, when Scotch-Irish and German settlers established farms and mills in the area. Officially organized in 1748 and later divided into Upper and Lower townships, the region developed through agriculture and later became part of Pennsylvania’s “Cement Belt” during the 19th century. Today, Mount Bethel retains its rural charm and offers access to outdoor recreation, including the Tekening Blue Trail along the Delaware River and nearby portions of the Appalachian Trail. The area also features community parks and historical attractions such as the Slate Belt Museum. Notable among its historical residents is Johann Adam Eyer, a fraktur artist known for his contributions to Pennsylvania German folk art. Mount Bethel continues to reflect a rich blend of history, nature, and small-town life.
